Hello. My name is John Hylas Smith. Welcome to our Rancho Aliso website. Rancho Aliso is located in the hills along the west side of Aliso Canyon off of Foothill Road about halfway between Ventura and Santa Paula, California.
My family has been in Aliso Canyon for nearly 140 years dating back to the time when my great great grandfather owned the Aliso Canyon Ranch at the far north end of Aliso Canyon and what was then called Willoughby Road after my great great grandfather. Later on Col. White married a Willoughby and his daughter married my great grandfather from Ireland, Oliver Fitz-Patrick and the Fitz-Patricks settled a little farther down the canyon on the old home ranch. When my grandmother Fitz-Patrick passed away in 1985, I asked my family if I could take over one of the last remaining pieces of land owned by our family. It is a small 70 acre parcel that we now call Rancho Aliso in honor of our Californios history. Send this Web Site to a friend. |
